Does anyone on here have any male border collie / border collie mix puppies for sale or give away in the southwest Minnesota, northwest Iowa or southeastern South Dakota area? I lost my dog yesterday. Doesn't have to be a purebred or anything like that, just have had good luck with border collies.

Please try searching on PetHarbor.com - just did a quick search on a 200mile radius around Sioux Falls, SD brought 8 candidates.

Best Wishes!!

Thank you. He followed me everywhere. I would work by a bench in the shop and he would be under it, if I went to the other bench he would walk over and sit under that one. When I walked to another building he went along and when I walked back he walked right beside me. It has been tough. The one I had before him I had for 12 years. I agree they are smart. I had one once that would catch a two liter pop bottle with his front paws, didn't work the best with a Frisbee for him though. I used to play catch with him and when he brought back what I was throwing I would say "Can I have it please" then he let go of it and I said "thank you". Once my brother had ahold of a stick that the dog had. He said he wont let go of it, I told him you have to ask him for it. My brother said to the dog, "Cant I have it please?" and he let go of it. They have a lot of personality unique to themselves.

I'm sorry about your little pal.
My first dog was a border collie mix.
I've had a couple of dogs since but that dog was the the best one ever.
Not just a good dog but a great dog.
When I went to the farm to get him i had pick of the litter.
He came charging up ahead of the others and wouldn't leave me while the others got bored and went off to play. It was more of a case of him picking me than the other way around.
Had another BC after he left-a pure bred but that one was pretty high strung and very independent.
Great breed though.
I hope you get a good one.

L:eek:ok for an Australian Shepard rescue place. They are a border collie with better temperment and are very loyal. They look almost the same except some have the tails cut off. I had one as a recue for more than 12 years. Best dog that ever owned me ansd I have had poodles, Goldens, labs etc but Buddy was the smartest, most loyal loving dog ever. I know your loss because I lost Buddy and now live where no dogs are allowrd. Henry PS Buddy had a tail that was very useful to him.

Thank you. I know what you mean. When I went to pick him up and was talking to the guy the pup who was sitting beside us stopped and just stared at me for about 15 or 20 seconds. There is a good connection with certain ones. He had me trained very well. When I brought him in the house for a bit (was an outside dog) if he wanted to go out he went down by the entrance door and sat down looking at the doorknob. When I let him out he went out and got a drink and then came right back in. He would even watch TV for up to 3 or 4 minutes at a time which to me was quite impressive for a puppy less than 3 months old. He is missed very much. The one I had mentioned before in the post below was a card as well. I used to get home from work, sit in the pickup, and open and close the passenger door staying in the pickup. He would run around to that side and when he got over there I would open and close the drivers door. Then he would run around to that side. After doing that a few times through the week when I got home he would stay by the drivers door and just look under the pickup lol.

Yeah, all the great times.
My first one loved to play.
Went everywhere with me. As a carpenter I would hit the lumber yard 2-3 times a week.
So I'd let him out and he'd run around doing his thing. The yard hands knew him and liked him. He had a trick he'd play if they were wearing gloves. If the yard hand wasn't paying attention dog would grab the finger tip of one of his gloves and quick as a wink, snatch the glove off. Then he would tun around the yard with the glove in his mouth hoping the guy would chase him. Yard hands learned to keep their hands in a fist to protect their gloves.
Great times.

Dad got a free one from a small town. I think he was full grown at that time. That was when he was only about 80. He had it for awhile, but decided a young crazy wild dog and an old man were not a good fit. He gave it away to someone else. His next dog was a golden lab mix. He thought he was a lap dog. He got friendly with a teenage neighbor girl and always went to visit a half mile away. Dad got tired of looking for him so he took him to the pound. I don't know why he didn't give it to the neighbor. If he quit feeding him, he would probably have quit coming home. Maybe they didn't want to feed him. Dad said no more dogs at the age of 86.
