i know this sounds crazy but im not sure if I have a mf35 or a 135 serial plate is missing. any way the hydraulic fliud is milky so I drain and flushed with diesel fuel twice and I was goimg to change the filter but cant find it I was told it was behind the pto lever and I have that off but do not see the round filter like the one they sold me. any info or pictures woukd be helpful. thanks

The tin on a 35 is rounded and the tin(hood-fenders) are more angular-squared off on a 135.

I could be wrong, but I think the early ones didn't have a filter in there.

he issue with that theory is people are swapping the tin out taking the 135 tin and putting it on the 35's my tractor has the square good but has the round fenders. All the parts I've bought has been for. 135 except for the head and the guy told me the head is for a 35. There essentially is hardly any difference between the 35 and 135 other than the tin which can be swapped

i also see people talking about two drain plugs I found the one under the pot lever but where is the second

If there is a filter, it will be on top of the hydraulic pump. You might be able to reach through the PTO lever cover, but it would be difficult, maybe impossible, never tried it. All it is is a screen, personally I would not worry about it. Go to the parts page, look up the hydraulic pump, you'll see the filter on top of the pump. The 35 and 135 are the same.

The drain plugs are under the transmission, the other is further back under the differential.

It will hold about 8 gallons of oil. Book calls for 90w mineral oil, but in cold weather it will be very slow to operate the hydraulics. Most everyone uses 15w-40 motor oil.

When filling (through the plug beside the shifter)pour it in slowly. Takes a while to move from the trans to the rear end. If the front seal is bad (most are) it will dump on the clutch. Or while you have the round cover off, pour it in there, bring it to the bottom bolt hole of the round cover sitting level.

If there was a lot of water in the case, check the shifter boots and the draft link boot under the seat. Either will let rain drain into the case.
