The warning sign ahead of a traffic light? Says-"Prepare To Stop When Flashing". New definition struck me as funny....think about it.....

Pretty funny: I find lots of signs confuse me. For example; I was leaving the local Wal-Mart last Tuesday and there were two sets of self opening glass doors. The two doors directly ahead of me had a sign that read "Do not Enter". Since I was not entering and I could see the parking lot through the glass, I continued....the doors would not open.

If they are flashing you are not going to make it through the light. I think they are better than when the lights all of a sudden change on you and you have to make a quick decision to go for it or hit the brakes.

How about the signs are far oder than you think. There are several "lights" that used to have blinkers many years ago in s jersey. They just left them up. One I know says road floods and the road has been closed for years.

Next time I flash someone, ain't no way I'm gonna stop an give em time to start laughing......

There's a road up in the Poconos leading down to the Lehigh Valley that at one time had 'angry driver' on one official-looking warning sign. A few miles down the road another said 'drunk driver'. Now, if they knew there was a drunk driver, wouldn't there be a better way to deal with him than putting up a sign? And what happened when the drunk driver and angry driver met?

They could put those up in a lot of places and eliminate a lot of wrecks.
Two I can think of are On route 6 in western Ohio. Around Bryan you can see the first one westbound 7 miles out at night. And there's not much to judge how far from the light you are when you get there. With a 55 limit.

That's why I started running the extra miles to take 69 to route 6 from Auburn, IN, instead of route 3. The lights on 3 you stop from 50-55. On 6 you're only doing 35.
Heck, a sign at 1/8 1/4, and 3/8 mile from the light would do.

(quoted from post at 08:05:51 10/02/15) The township put one up by my place says, Slow Children Ahead! LOL
sn't that discrimination to single out the 'slow' ones?

After 2 weeks of driving into northern Virginia from rural central Virginia, I've learned that traffic lights have different meanings there. Green means go, amber means speed up its going to turn red, and red means 'only 3 more cars'. I found this odd until I discovered that traffic lights are only there to periodically stop cars so the drivers can read and update e-mail and text.
