Truck again revisited

The fellow who worked on the truck ran another diagnostic and this time the code showed catalytic convertor. We are assuming that the unburned fuel and crap from the cylinder with the messed up valve lifter is the cause. He reset the codes and advised to drop the hammer and get the converter hot as possible every chance I get and see what happens. Oh well, got almost two months to fool around with it before it has to be inspected.

That might work, especially if it was driven with a dead cylinder, could just be fouled. I saw this video, never tried it, not recommending it, but here it is...

I have had my share of fix one emission issue and another emission issue pops up. Some diagnostic trouble code trees tell you if you read into them deep enough that a non issue that does not turn on the light will cause it to fail a emission test.

The issue that was a hard fraught is fixed the monitors blow right threw the test now but struggle with something like a borderline cat... I don't know but its possible if a hard fraught is seen it may not be running the cat monitors are others it aborts them because the hard fraught may cause a ghost code if it ran it...

I would think a hard misfire would be priority first...

I have had good luck running a can of BG K44 in the fuel. I like to get them 1/2 tank are less and throw the hole can at it...

How do they do the emission test in your area is it state ran are farmed out to service stations, dealers, garages are holes in the wall that think they can make a living on lick'em and stick'ems...

It would not let me edit...

Folks that think you are getting something for free at a parts store code check deserve all the headaches they bring with the free check...
