OT Bad day for falls

I would bet you do not hear this all the time.

I was getting on my motorcycle at the office this morning, started it, put helmet on, then it happened. A spider dropped down out of the helmet, and crawled across my face. I let go of everything to get the helmet off and fell over with bike on top of me. felt a pain in my right lower back after that. I had left my bike and helmet out last night, seems like spider crawled in.

I decided to take the boat out for a little after work, jumped off to rope it up when done, and tripped over the dock cleat. My back really hurt and I could not get up for a while.

I had to drive 3 hours to job site tonight, can tell you where every bump is on the road.

I am back working on the pipeline headed your way Jim, hope to finally get this equipment working, winter is coming.

At least you took it in the Fall when the ground wasn't so hot, instead of the Summer....LOL

Seriously, years ago I picked up a welding helmet and started to put it on when I happened to glance down and see one of those big wolf spiders sitting there in the lens. Had that critter gone across my face I'd have probably killed myself, or anyone else in my path, trying to get away.

I did a good one cutting wood in the timber yesterday. Each year that you get older means you spend an additional minute at every situation figuring out how not to fall. Sadly, you are still a minute short of finding the one that will trip you up.

I told the neighbor yesterday (after I fell), "I hate it when the *stuff* hits the fan and I didn't even know the fan was running." Seems to be more of those.

You do know you should not take a trip with out leaving the farm don't you???????????As for the back be careful with that a back problem is nothing to take lightly

As a carpenter/builder I have run into plenty of critters as bad times. I've seen people panic and almost kill themselves trying to avoid a bee sting. Take the sting don't fall off the ladder. My dad had a way with animals, never got stung by bees, stay calm don't be afraid, they are not as aggressive.

Sure is an abundance of spiders around here this year. Yesterday I moved a trailer, a few hours later I was back to the trailer and there was already a spider web with a spider in the middle. On the other hand haven't seen one lady bug yet.

Speaking of spiders: Years ago people in the office were going on a Lake Erie sailboat trip on a supplier salesman's boat. We met at the dock and one girl noticed that the railings and rigging were covered in spider webs (and spiders). Spiders love to be near the water where there's lots of bugs. She wouldn't sit foot on the boat until we cleared all the webs. We had to go down in the galley to make sure there were no spiders down there as well. She finally got in the cockpit with the rest of us and we motored out to the lake. The skipper raised the sail and you can probably guess what happened. Seemed like hundreds of big fat spiders fell out of the sail as it unfurled. A lot ended up in the water, some clung to the sail but many just fell down on top of us. We all jumped and were brushing them off but she turned white as a sheet and froze. I thought she was having a heart attack. We were brushing them out of her hair, off of her blouse. None of us were thrilled and the skipper was apologetic. He said that with the group onboard, he was kind of distracted and forgot to raise the sail at the dock to clear the critters. She was VERY unhappy the rest of the trip. I have never seen so many spiders in one place in my life. They were all harmless but nonetheless a spooky experience.

I was clearing some of the stuff off the end of some of the grape rows yesterday in anticipation of harvest- moved a stack of blue barrels my Dad kept there and saw the first snake of this year. Nest of garters, in fact. Harmless, but still startling.
