Got a decent start chopping corn this weekend, once the bagger finally showed up. Used our Massey 285 to open it up on Saturday and split the field (only runs down 2 rows, instead of 3 like the 1855 does) and then put the big Ollie on to get some work done.
Can't remember if Dad said the field is 12 or 15 acres, but so far 16 loads off and another 4-5 left out there by counting the rows left.
Last year we planted a 20 acre field that was miserable and only gave us 9 loads. Right now the 9' x 200' bag is probably close to 2/3 full or so, plus we have a chunk left of a bag from previous years that we'll probably end up using as well as our silo. We have another field to harvest yet. Planted the inside as a picking corn but the cobs are so small it probably won't be worth the cost to have it combined. The headlands are the same HDS we planted in field #1 and it looks pretty decent. We'll see more what it looks like once we open it up.
Hopefully we can get some winter wheat and winter rye in yet this fall.
