If you are just getting it, then you have little idea what you are in for. A couple years back I looked at a satellite image of my woodlot. It looked like that place in Russia where the meteorite exploded. Trees laying all over the ground. If you don't cut them down, they will heal over against other trees and are freaking dangerous to cut. If you misjudge the pressure on the trunk and start sawing in the wrong place the trunk will shatter. I had one do that last November and it nearly killed me. I tossed the saw ten feet and took a dive for the ground but it side swiped my head and and half removed my left ear. I asked the ER plastics guy how many stitches and he told me he lost count. Most of $5K after insurance. But to answer your question, they burn good for years if kept dry.

By the by, at the request of my wife and daughters, I have acquired several very long chains. We now drag these into the woods and hook onto those leaners. The other end is hooked to the draw bar on the 1586 sitting OUTSIDE the woods. Yank them right over.
