Tonight's moon.

I've been watching it off and on here in north east Pa. It's all but covered here at 10:25pm. Kind of neat even if I have seen some before. It's very clear here also.

Watching it now.

Fascinating.

Nearly total.

No doubt, PETA people are dancing around beneath the old oak tree and burning bones.

Seriously, most of us see this once or at most twice in one's lifetime. It is something about which to tell one's grandkids.

Too much cloud cover here, so tried watching on NASA.gov live feed. All their video is out at this time and they can't explain why. Just saying 'Technical Difficulties'. Only getting Audio.

Beautiful clear skies, no wind, no mosquitos, and a great view of the moon here in western MN.
May not be around to see it next time.

wife and 2 daughters were out with me watching it, nice that it happens early, beutiful evening, no wind mid 60's

It has been covered completely here in western MN since about 9:15. It is a very calm and fairly clear night too.

I think too much cloud cover in Louisville area ,, where is it in your sky ???, I cannot locate the moon anywhere , could be totally blokt off by eclipse ?// the Louisville lite glow is larger than normal against the clouds ,, and a dirt brown red rather than white ,,

I took this on shortly after it started.

I watched for the first 3rd. After that the cloud cover blocked it. Checked back every 20min or so but nothing yet. Unfortunate, I wanted to see it.

OK, s'plain this Lucy. If the sun is rising vertically east then setting vertically west, and the moon is rising vertically east to setting west, everything is running up then down, then how is that shadow running left to right?? I'm serious, I don't understand.

Cloud cover heavy enough to mostly obscure it here while the moon was being eclipsed. Still could see what was going on though. Skies cleared up and the red phase was in full view. Neat.

Came clear here, right at halftime of the Lions' game. Watched with the kids for a while, beautiful. I can only imagine what the peoples of ancient civilizations would have said when that happened, considering their fascination with the heavens.

Have to remember, the moon and sun aren't above earth. The earth, sun, and moon are all lined up horizontally more or less. To understand it better lay on the ground looking up with your head pointing north. Imagine you're not looking up, but looking out.
