I've been posting about issues with my mule for sometime. You name it, I've done it including buying a kaw service manual, reading up on the DFI, checking everything in manual, About a month ago, I discovered replaced the air temp sensor with a 1600 ohm resistor problem went away. I got an assortment of thermistors. 100, 1k and 10k. I put together two 1k thermistors in parallel and then wired a 1k fixed resistor in series. At 65 degrees my circuit makes 1600 ohms, about 900 ohms less than the OEM thermistor at 65. So far, temps from 45 to 90 mule's problems have gone away. At 90 my circuit is slightly more than OEM. At colder temps my thermistor has less resistance.
After discovering the compression ratio of the mule is 10.3:1 I switched over to 93 octane. No holes in piston, mule runs great. Runs like it did when new, starts like it should, no more stalling.
I would have never thought I would be adjusting fuel mix with a resistors and thermistors.
My feel I'm still running a tick rich. I've been adjusting carburetors with a screwdrivers and yet to damage an engine. Not worrying a hole in piston, but if I do damage engine, I post back.
