Who has the best 7 pole round female plug for truck? I would like to find one that will hold on the the plug on trailer. I would like wires attached to the plug and be molded so water can't get to connections.

Thanks
George

I like Hopkins brand, I have never used one to splice in, but I used the direct plug in one below:

http://www.amazon.com/Hopkins-40975...2344040&sr=8-15&keywords=trailer+plug

this one does have a small tab to hold the round trailer plug into the socket. I also like having both 4 and 7 plug right on my truck. They also sell the adapter to splice into your harness, puts your connections up higher and then the plug hangs down to plug into the back of the trailer connector.

I'll second the Hopkins brand. They have the truck end that is epoxied in where the wires attach, then has a pigtail that wires to the truck. Also have a molded trailer end that keeps water out.

Found mine at Northern Tool.

It didn't appear the hopkins brand had wires coming out the end. I want the end to be water tight.. I want to solder my wires to the wires coming out the female end, not attach them with screws that will rust.

Not all are made that way. This one was for a factory set up that plugged into the harness. I had to cut the plugs off to make it work with my application. It was one of the few that were epoxied, had to look through the whole display to find it. Wish I had the number, but the box is gone.

if its a later model truck, the dealer may be able to get the factory harness. i got a 7 pin for my chevy wt, it was a direct plug in harness, no splicing at all, there was also a harness for under the dash for the trailer brakes.

My local Napa carries one that has both 7 and 4 pin connectors on the same body. It is epoxied in the back and has a pigtail out of it. It also comes with the bracket and all for about $20. Hoppy brand, I think.

I went to all the places everyone suggested, NONE had a molded cord like the one I found at a local RV dealer. For what I paid for this plug, I could have bought 6 of the non molded plugs. I went to all local auto parts places even NAPA, nothing with a water tight end. The way I see it, it was cheaper than getting in an accident. Electric brakes are priority one.

RV dealer says this is the best on the market, Bargman. BTW, I couldn't find one like this online.

There is no factory wiring harness either. In 2007 when I bought the truck there was no factory wiring harness. Still not available. I had to install an electrical gismo to convert the brake light and turn signal, which are different bulbs on truck to trailer wiring which use the same bulb for turn and brake. I think my brake and turn lights on GMC truck are called European style or something like that.
