custom rate for combining oats

I was wondering what to charge for combining oats with a JD 9500 combine. I did about 40 acres of fairly clean oats for a neighbor late in July and need to bill him for the work.

Nobody is doing small grains for less than 30 dollars per acre and I would guess most charge over 35 even with fuel being down somewhat from where it had been. Maybe where there is more competition in custom harvesters the price may be less plus there are guys here that will give you the "agree to sell your farm to me and I will do it at cost."

Depends a lot on where it is at. If in the plains like Ne and such they use to cut on 3-12's Not sure what it is now. If in the mid west like in IN,Mi area it is probably in the 30-35 per acre range. Also will depend on if you hauled them or not. Grain cart or not. All adds up on cost. If just cutting and nothing else then probably about the 30 range.
