On a 1953 Chevrolet with the early style 235 engine,(Not the later engine from the 60s) can anyone tell me where the hole is on the engine or bellhousing that you check the ignition timing with a light? My repop manual just says use the hole, does not say where it is.

Passenger side of engine, hole is on bell housing facing the front of the engine. About the same level as the distributor. (IF my memory serves correctly)!! Should be a pointer in the hole.
