Restoration of ford 960

I have a 1956 ford 960 row-crop that is painted blue/gray, by all indications after disassembling to restore it is evident that it was painted blue/gray at the factory. Everyone tells us it should be be red/gray does anyone have any info as to why the factory painted this tractor blue/gray? I want to restore this tractor back to original.

In the early 60's the dealers were promoting an offer to repaint tractors to the newer color scheme, its one possibility for sure.

I don't believe a 56 model would have been blue/gray originally. That didn't happen until the early 60's, 62 I think on a few 6000's that if they came out red/gray Ford offered an option to bring them back in for a repaint. My 62 801 is and has always been red/gray.

It should be red and gray. We have had the best luck using new holland paint and the hardner the
dealer sales with Nason thinner. It has been working well. This is the 960 puller we just finished

Thanks for responding so quickly. I was hoping someone out there may have or had seen a blue/gray 1956 like mine. I have mine completely disassembled and body was red and painted over blue. Can't imagine anyone tearing everything apart to change the color. Tractor appeared to be a working tractor when I bought it.

Thank you for responding so quickly. I want to restore this tractor to original and have no way to find owner when tractor was new.
