Help on a Ford 881 L

Hi- I have a Ford 881 that uses LP fuel. I bought it from my aunt about 5 yrs ago(they bought it new in 62) and it's really been a good little tractor. I've really done nothing to it except change filters and fluids. Doesn't get worked hard but has really been a great starting machine in any kind of weather.

Anyway-I guess until now :), it's decided not to start. I don't know much about LP tractors. I did try a little troubleshooting and it has good spark. I think the diaphragm in the mixer/vaporize or whatever the right term is. Without the tractor running but the vapor on, if I crack the line between the mixer and the carb, fuel is coming out and from I've read I don't think it should do that.

So I thought I'd probably start with a little rebuild on that mixer part. My guess is it's original- on top of it, it says ALGAS and then MET R FLO under that with a L.A. 21 Calif. under that. Dealer says none of the parts are available and the internet hasn't proved helpful yet so I'm looking for any help anyone can provide on finding parts for this little unit, or if you think I'm going down the wrong path let me know that also or if there some other Impco or other brand of these parts that I need to replace the whole mixer with? Any info or help is greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Sounds like you have an OEM factory LP tractor, fuel system in-tact? I'm lead to believe that parts for this fuel system may or may not be scarce, don't quote me. Do you by chance have the Ford Shop Manual for these tractors, mine does have a section in it for factory LP tractors.

A commonly available, Impco Model J will work fine, but I am not sure if the carburetor has to match, and or any necessary plumbing changes. It has an inlet and outlet for fuel, as well as the same for the coolant that provides heat to vaporize from liquid.

Someone here may know more than I about the existing vaporizer/fuel system on there, I'm not familiar with it, but am with the Impco Model J on a 172 4 cylinder Ford engine. It was common on forklifts and other applications, easily rebuilt, I've done mine once already.
