did someone recently make a comment as to why gear oil should not be used in the trans. or hyd. sumps? I wanted to print it and now I cannot locate it.

thanks.

Some gear oil contains sulfur which is corrosive to any brass parts (thrust washers, etc.) that may be used.

If "wet brakes" or "wet clutch(s) are exposed to certain oils they are not compatible with, they will deteriorate or come unglued from the metal plates and you wind up with those parts failing, and the hydraulic system full of mooshed up clutch or brake lining.

So, to be safe, follow the manufacturers oil requirements.
