Super C / Woods belly mower

Does anyone know if a Woods belly mower will work on a Super C with a fast hitch, or does the fast hitch have to be removed? The C has both a regular 540 pto and the right angle gear box.

I have a Farmall H with a Woods Belly Mower and the brackets bolt to the axle housings and I'm still able to mount the drawbar with out the swinging drawbar. So I would say maybe it would fit on a "C" with a fast hitch.

I would call your local dealer and tell them what you have and they should be able to tell you if it's possible. They may have a special bracket when the tractor has quick hitch.

If you're patient enough to dig through and find it, the Woods website has tractor model specific manuals, which are pretty good with pictures.

My farmall c didn't have fast hitch, but I had to remove hitch to use a woods off farmall h.72 inch.

Rollie,

I think the right angle gearbox had interference with the large mule belt pulley. If I recall, the Woods mower came with a cover. That cover was installed after the removal of the gearbox.

Man, my memory is poor. Best wishes,

D.

Looks like more research on my part is needed. The fire dept. I belong to is looking at a Super C to mount a Woods belly mower on. I found a used mower but I want to have my ducks in order before I make any recommendations.

Thanks guys

Normally the C used a 5 ft mower and the H and M used 6 ft mowers. I first had a 5 ft mower. Didn't like it because rear wheels are more than 5 ft and the mower was off set to the right. I had to center the 6 ft belly mower, it too was offset to the right, so it would fit on the trailer I had. It was a very tight fit too.

My 6 ft mower was a corn stock chopper. I flipped it over, attached metal about 3/4 of an inch away from blades. Makes a better cut, like a finish mower.

Woods does make an RM660, 540 pto. Rear mount, 3pt, 6 ft. I have one on a Jubilee. It does a fantastic job.

Try converting your quick hitch, 2 pt I think, to a 3 pt. It may be easier to just put a tongue on the RM660, it has 4 wheels to adjust the height. Don't see why you really need to lift the RM660 unless you are driving down the road real fast.

So both the tractor and mower have yet to be purchased? I have done that a few times, and spent lots of money on new attaching parts. Maybe you should come up here and look over my AC C with Woods 6' mower! It's for sale. Ready to go.

You need the later mount for the mower as it drives from the belt pulley earlier mounts were a huge mass of stuff and drove with a huge pulley on the PTO. I have a mount if you need one for the 59

The local J-D has a real nice Super C for sale. He is letting us bring it to the fire house so every one can check it out. I found a used Woods belly mower that is off of a Super C that did not have the fast hitch.
The fire dept. members and myself know very little about A-C tractors. Sometimes it is hard to get the guys to agree on things they know little about. I will bring up your AC at the meeting.

Where in NE Pa are you located. There is a very good Woods Mower dealer in Centermoreland, Pa. and I'll bet he can fix you up with what ever you need. He has a small dealership and he's very helpful and reasonable. Hope this helps.

I've got a Super C with a six foot mower. The right angle gear box can stay on the tractor but I had to remove the flat belt pulley.

Rollie,
Here is another monkey wrench to think about. If you use the flat belt pulley, the right angle gear box, you will need a right side discharge belly mower. If you use the large pulley that attaches to the PTO, you will need a left side discharger mower.

My 5 ft mower used the right angle gear box and my 6 ft uses the PTO attached pulley.

The Woods mower I looked at came off of a Super C and has everything with it including the draw bar and mounts.

If the fire dept decides to buy the Super C, it would be nice to keep the fast hitch on the tractor along with the mower.

Thanks

That is the dealer I was talking about. He's a very good guy to do business with and he will do what ever he can to help you. Good Luck I'm a little ways north of Tunkhannock myself.
