No start when hot

Ferguson TO 35 gasoline fueled
Starts like a champ when engine cold but will not start when engine hot(worked). After it sits for a couple of hours it starts immediately. What's the problem?

Beats me.

We had an Oliver 70 that was the same way, and we never did figure it out. If you ever killed the engine in the field, all you could do was find a shade tree for an hour.

I would agree with the others. Pull the coil wire immediately after it quits and see if you have spark. Do not replace any components until you diagnose it.

Does it run good when hot, plenty of power? If not ,the valves may be set too tight resulting in loos of compression.Cools down, clearance opens up and she lights right off.

My TO30 is just like that. It might fire once then die. I found that if I turn off the fuel 10 seconds before I shut off the tractor, it will start right back up when I want it to. May be worth giving a shot.

Time for simple trouble shooting 101.
#1 when it is hot check for a good blue/white spark that jumps a 1/4 inch gap at the center wire of the coil and then all 4 plug wires. Spark weak maybe a coil or a condenser.
#2 pull the carb drain plug and make sure you have a good steady flow of gas for a few minutes catch it to look for dirt etc. Should fill a pint jar in about 3 minutes.
#3 pull the gas cap off and listen for air either sucking or blowing out. If either one tank vent maybe clogged

GVSII , has a point, normally overlooked! I don't know the TO35 engine, but if it is the kind with the valves in the block, then it might need a valve job. I have had that scenario with the older Pontiac flathead engines.
