Some Retro Ads

These are from a Centennial paper, circa 1966 from my hometown.

My dad bought the MH44 from Hand Implement, he was second owner.

I would work on the Briggs and Stratton engines for Cyanamid.

Thank you for taking the time to post these. It is always nice to see ads from years ago, there is just something about them. Maybe because a person can only "visit" them now.

I love those old ads. They are a time machine back to simpler days. How many of those businesses are still around???? Bloom manufacturing is the only one I can think of and they sold a few years ago so I am not even sure if they are still there.

Whenever we travel, we like to stay in historic hotels. Stayed in a 1920's era hotel in Rocksprings TX a few years ago. Rocksprings is a tiny town, basically exists now only to serve the deer hunters.

The hotel was like stepping back in time! Filled with antiques, we were given a key to the front door and full access to the whole place.

In the room was an original "business directory" for the town from the '20's. It was like a phone book, but I say business directory because only 2 businesses listed a phone number! We took it the next day, walked and drove the town, found as many of the addressee we could. Most were long gone, some were only boarded up ruins but a few were still there! That tiny book gave us hours of entertainment!

My pa bought this at an auction for the Mirro ad on the back, not knowing it was an atlas till we got it home.
