Chicken care

My chickens have run of over 5 acres during the day so I was hoping that them dusting themselves would work but it is not.

What can I dust laying hens with to help with chicken mites; lice; fleas.
Should I dust it directly on the chicken or lock them up and provide a tub of it for them to dust themselves.

use of permethrin in conjunction with this would help.

You can dust them with diatomaceous earth. I sprinkle it in the shavings when I clean the coop also

the DE mentioned in a litter box will make for a good place for them to dust themselves.

I use both DE and poultry dust from places like tsc / rural king. farnam makes some of it.

basically just a permethrin dust in a big shaker can.

I put diatomaceous earth in my dusting box year round to control lice and other pests.
