I had the injector pump rebuilt for my MF 1085 - Perkins 318 engine. It was so bad it would hardly start, had little power, and was leaking everywhere. The shop I took it to is a one man injector specialist...cost a fortune but I knew that going in. He was amazed it even ran.
Now the rest of this tractor is also getting long in the tooth and I've had head gasket issues in the past so I don't want to blow it up. The guy said put it back in the same spot where it came off and it will run well. If I want more power advance the pump by rotating the mount a bit clockwise...I don't want to do this, I want to ease it up a bit.
If I rotate it counter clockwise, will it retard the injection timing and hopefully reduce the power a bit? It will only probably rotate about 3/16" either way. I am not talking about changing the timing sprockets...just rotating the pump where it mounts on the timing housing.
Any advice would be great...just want to keep her running a bit longer. Thanks, Grant
