If you suffer from gout , don't just watch what you eat, but what you drink, avoid things with high fructose corn syrup, I have had major gout problems and it is staring to clear up after I stopped drinking things with hfcs, almost all sodas and juices contain hfcs, just letting you know,

gout is also a form of arthrits. drink plenty of fluids. if not you get to take indomethicin, or get to take allopurinol
there after, like i do. i wish you luck

Thanks for the post.

My right knee has been bothering me, and our family doctor thought it might be gout. Then last week my left wrist got sore. Now she thinks there might be a connection between the two and wants me to see a rheumatologist. All this came about on Friday, so I don't have an appointment set up with a rheumatologist yet. I'm hoping for this week.

Several years ago, our church had a young pastor who told me once he complained to his father about his car wearing out. His father replied, "Wait until your body starts wearing out".

But, I've always said I'd rather wear out than rust out like some guys.

yes, glucose and fructose is the worst things. plus avoid organ meats. you have to drink plent of water to flush out the uric acid as your body is producing too much.i have experimented with the beer thing too and it does not affect me like the glucose fructose as in pops. when i use pop i dilute with 1/2 water. i also take urcinol pills for uric acid management. its more of a health food type of pill but it works. this is the no. for those pills 888-754-0313. tried the doctor pills but you may be fixing one thing while destroying another so quite them.

I can't eat cashews, pecans or asparagus or I get the gout. I don't drink alcohol either. I also take allopurinol.

I agree with Tired1 have your dr prescribe allpurinal there are different strengths. Normally for kidney stones but will regulate the uritic acid and prevent flareups. From someone who dealt with gout for 4 yrs everyday till they figured it out. no flare ups since.

I had success with taking 2 OZ daily of Montmerency sour cherry juice. We can get it in our grocery store in the refrigerated dairy case. You do have to work up to that dosage, though, as it will clean you out! This type of cherry juice is also very anti inflammatory.

Nobody understands the pain it causes until they experience do they? When you tell them you can't even drag a sheet across your big toe cause it hurts so bad they think you are a baby. I remember the first time I had it I was coming home from Canada and it was in my right foot so I drove home with the left one went to the doctor and he knew right away what it was. That cherry juice worked for me. Now I worry about getting kidney stones.

Doctor thinks I may be experiencing my 1st gout episode. We're waiting for the blood test to see if it's gout or Lyme's disease. Between the two, I think the gout is the winner winner chicken dinner. Two weeks ago I ran 50 feet, in my bare feet, to answer the phone one morning. I should mention I wear orthotics to deal with the arthritis in my feet. About an hour later I'm standing with the HVAC guy and I notice my left foot is hurting a bit. He leaves and the foot now resembles a meatloaf with 5 stuffed sausages attached. I thought I may have sprained or strained it so I called rheumatoid guy, he instructs: ice, xray. That yields no fracture, prescribes anti inflammatory. 4 days later, still lousy. Now they give me more prednisone, during my "summer of steroids", takes swelling away. Then I go see my PCP, he finally draws blood for testing uric acid and Lyme's disease prescribes colchicine to remove uric acid.
Ladies and gentlemen, I respectfully submit this stuff has stopped me cold in my tracks. I really eat pretty healthy, drink water, etc.. I've temporarily cut my 2 beers a day to zero. I truly have no idea what events brought this on. Still not back in the saddle. I need to be back in that saddle real soon!

(quoted from post at 06:01:54 08/03/15) I get leg cramps at night during sleep. Very unbearable.

[b:80de699939]Drink more water[/b:80de699939] - plain, old [b:80de699939]WATER![/b:80de699939] For gout drink a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in 8 oz. of water. When it comes to keeping everything working as best as it can a person needs [b:80de699939]WATER[/b:80de699939], not coffee, not juice, not soda pop, not wine......and not beer.....JUST WATER!

Was youngest case Dr. had seen (32yrs old). Was in a TOXIC partnership with lots of STRESS, sold out and reopened on our own, problem 95% cured. Take 3 "Cheery Flex" capsules/day as they don't affect blood sugar and Indomethecin for rare flare ups. Whenever I have joint pain anywhere that cannot be attributed to an injury it's gout.

Gout is mainly caused due to defective metabolism of uric acid which causes arthritis. The assumption of your doc is almost right I guess. Gout mainly affects the smaller bones of the feet. I think it would be better if you get some treatment for your knees first. Chiropractic treatments will be an ideal choice. I had suffered a lot with my knees and consulted a chiropractor in Toronto. I had my treatment in his clinic called Physiomed and the treatment was a great relief for my knee pain. So I would definitely suggest you to get a chiropractic treatment asap.
