No problem with me, Its your engine and its up to you. My self I would run SAE 30W or 40W in the old JD but that's just me. Bandit

Shoot I run 60W oil in my old JD-B but then it has been decades since the engine has been worked on if it ever has been worked on

My old sc case had very bad rings. I had best luck
with shell rotella 15w40 diesel rated oil, good heavy
oil, didn't burn off as fast

I run rotella 15/40 in all my stuff, but one winter when I was using my Allis D-14 to feed round bales, and only running it for 20 minutes a
day, I ran 10/30 syntech in it to help cold weather starting.
I thought it would find all kinds of leaks for me, but I didn't have any problems.

When I fed everyday with my 450 Farmall in the winter I changed to 10 weight. It never run over half open and only about a hour.

be ok for winter running, in summer i would run 10-40 or 20-50 in it.
but... you dont say if your working it or just putzzing around big difference.

Good question. Mostly just putt putt puttzing around. Maybe some work like light fall plowing and such...

It has no knock and never has. This tractor has been in my family since 1940 and was my grand fathers tractor and I'll not mess with the engine unless I have too and I have had it since around 1977 or so
