MM 670 super frt. hoist

I have a MM 670 super LP that I would like to stack some big rds. with and was thinking of bolting 5"X3"X 3/16 tubing to the front where the weight bar is with those 3/4 X 2 1/2" bolts are. I think the bolts thread into the steering housing but not sure and was wondering if this would be strong enough to support lifting the weight of a big round. I was going to mount my engine hoist"cherry picker" on the 5"X3"X 3/16 frame work.

Thanks for any in put.

Im not sure that is going to be built heavy enough. In my experience, and just my opinion mind you, building something that isn't designed for a certain purpose usually ends up causing breakage of something or an unseen problem. Mounting directly off of the front of the tractor frame may cause breakage of the steering housing or twisting of the engine side rails and breaking the motor mounts. I have an M670 Super and know which bolts you are referring to. A modified cheap loader might even work a little better or safer for you.

Well that's what kept eat'n at me...'the unseen problem' that may occur. I wasn't planning on driving with a large bale hung out there, Just lift'n one that would be set in place from the 3pt. to a pickup or stack two high.

How much weight do they hang on the front when they get to plowing and bouncing around?

A 100-150 hp tractor may likely have about 1000 lbs on the front. Suitcase weights are about 100 lbs each, my 4430 had ten of them, the 4450 MFWD has at least a dozen.

The M670 Supers were rated, according to the operators manual, for no more than eight 95 pound weights. I believe they were the banana style weights not the suitcase weights so they were stacked forward from the weight bracket. That weight is fairly close to the tractor when in use and doesn't change position. If you can keep your bale assembly as close to the tractor as possible you might get by. I would be concerned about it tipping though. Loaders balance your weight to the center and rear of the tractor.

Thanks for the reply. I guess the bigger the tractor the more weight could be use. The MM670 is about 72 hp when new I think.
That weight is close to the tractor and doesn't more around either like a bale would do. I just want to lift a 4X5 bale that's about 800lb.......real careful like.... to sit on top of another and save some room. Or load a pick up or trailer.

I get 20 or 30 bales if it rains...5 to 10 if it doesn't on a 6 acre field so I'm tring to economize.

Alan is right I think if I do any moving around with one out there.

Oh thanks Alan. 760lb close to the tractor. My bales are 4X5 & about 800 I'm guessing. The bottom of the cherry picker would be about 15" in front of the weight bumper and slants back to the tractor to be just 4" over the hood-towards the rear. So the working end of the cherry picker wouldn't be as close as a loader but shouldn't be more than a couple feet more.

You are correct Alan about getting to far in front. With these weights I'm right on the border line so placement is a concern.
Thanks for all the in-put. I'll look again at this and let you all know what I'm gonna do.

Thanks. Russ

The thing that would concern me is the factory weight starts close to the tractor. You would have the full amount of that weight capacity about 4 foot out from where the last weight would end. Is there a way you can find an old loader to modify? Or maybe a low trailer to load them with a 3pt fork?
