My 7' has double wheels and my 6' has single. I can mow more uniform with the 7'. I don't know of a disadvantage

2 points of contact assist in reducing scalping and sheared pins/broken gears. the wider the more two are needed. When it is just as wide, or narrower than the tractor, the rear wheels are the 3rd point. Jim

Two wheels will ride a lot smoother, scalp less, one wheel holds the mower up if the other hits a hole, two wheels to carry the load should be less wear. I would never go back to a single wheel....really no advantage to a single except the price.
My fleet of workhorses.

Is your 7' a single or double blade. A neighbor had a 7' single and that was one huge machine. Really stuck out too far to the rear. It
had one tail wheel. I had an 8' Mohawk with twin 4' blades and dual tails. Worked just fine on my irregular ground until I high
centered it with a JD 4020 on a terrace and the center gear box inners just disintegrated.

I've never seen a twin rotor 7' or a single rotor 8', but have seen a few 7' with dual tail wheels. Here is one I am sorta interested in.....would take less HP to run than a twin in the real heavy stuff and probably faster than my 8'.

Eldon I sold that brand for a good many years. They are not too bad of a cutter. They are not a real heavy cutter. I would rate them as more of a medium duty one.

My 7' is the older model of that cutter. I bought it at an auction and have used it for several years, The only thing I've done to it is replace the blades and clutch discs. It's not a HD cutter but like JD said, it's a good medium duty.

If you are on flat ground maybe ok. But you are sticking 3' out the rear of where a 2 blade 8' would ride and maybe then some and any
terraces, hills or dales will be a nightmare. Also, foot-lbs come into the picture.......harder to lift, course the dual blade with gearboxes
and all probably would/might mitigate that part. Just my 2c, worth what you paid for it. Grin

Yeah I had a seven foot Bush Hog with a single tail wheel once....actually for a couple of weeks and then sold it. It stuck out there a long ways...and scalped easily. I would think two tail wheels would help that somewhat, but I have no experience with that setup. It would also take a long trailer to haul a tractor with 7' mower....

As far as I'm concerned 2 wheels are better than one and trailer type brush hogs
are a lot better than 3pt hitch ones and Yes I own both types in several different sizes.
