Is Cottonwood Canyon Road in Montana worth the drive? Thinking of driving it on the way to Spokane. Car or truck negotiable?

I will be working on a JD40 U tractor in Spokane.

I don't know about the road, but welcome to Spokane. I am a mile from the weigh station on I-90 as you cross the Idaho border...the orange glow to the north :)

Been associated with Spokane for 45 years starting with Air Force in 1970. Wife is from Chattaroy, WA and going to MIL's funeral
next week.

Usually flying by the weigh station with the rest of the traffic. Third trip this summer.

Well Eldon I have been stopped at that weight station. First time across there I missed that you had to get off at the exit and THEN go through it to the weight station. I had to go to the next exit and turn around. I had a DOT guy following me the entire time.

The moved it a bit further west a couple of years ago, probably partly to eliminate that problem.

Sorry to hear about the MIL. I grew up in South Dakota....like it much better out here.

I have not been on it. The area is dramatic and pretty remote. I lived in MT and traveled it extensively, It should be a reasonable choice. Take a can of gas, have a good vehicle with adequate cooling (inside and for the engine) Take your time. Jim

I always liked the view of the other side of Idaho threw lookout pass much better.
But then again I grew up and live in a forested area.

I was very surprised the first time I went to WA. state.
I expected the whole state to be like western WA. or Idaho with trees and wilderness.
I came out of the trees of Idaho and dropped on to a flat desert from Spokane over toward Yakima/Ellensburg.
Did not expect to see that in WA.
It has been about 25 years since I have been that far north and west.

Not familiar with Cottonwood Canyon, but the "Pintler ScenicLoop" located between Butte and Missoula that goes thru Anaconda has some beatiful scenery and is a pretty good well maintained road.
