WWell a while back I had some health problems, the asthma, along with
some cardiac and arthritis, and had a very bad diabetic diabetic problem,
My brain is somewhat foggy, but getting better.
I had several 4020 that I got my work done, but
They are needing work, and doc tells me I need
A cab and AC. So I'm going to need to upgrade. The dealer
Laughs (even tho our family been doing business there over 50 years)
I am needing something that will pull a 14 foot tandum
disk, a big round baler. I would like to pull a small nh3
Application and
mall no till dill. Any one have an idea for a tractor willnot
break the bank. Thx

Staying with a Deere or what? I had a 4040 that I bought new. Perfect replacement for a 4020. 4230 would be about the same animal, just a little older.

Of my favorite newish John Deere tractors are the 4440 and the 4230. Both I have used when working for dairy farmers when I was younger. I enjoyed using both and believe them to be a good match for your needs. The 4440 may be a little overkill though.

If something other than jd will work the case 1896/2096 and 2090/2290 and 2094/2294 all have excellent
cabs, 2 spd pto, power shift. They will be very fuel efficient, the 90/94's have the case 504 engine and
the 96's have the cummins engine. You can get nice ones in the $15-25,000 range.

Ask the Deere dealer what the top two best tractors
are. I'd bet my farm they will say 4020 and 4440.
That's why I've got one of each. I spent the day on
the 4440. The quad shift still works like a charm
(make sure you get one that hadn't been abused)
and the air conditioning will freeze you out. My legs
were cold today and it was 102 out. I bought mine
years ago and the pump had been turned up. The
Deere dealer has a fit every time it is in there as it
dynos about 185, but I don't abuse it so it's not too
much. It played with the old 455 36 foot minimum till
drill. The duals aren't loaded so it would spin out
before anything.

I had another that was in about the same shape. A
little more worn. They gave me $17,000 trade in a
few years ago. You would never regret getting one
and could get your money back anytime you
wanted. Very few tractors are like that.

(quoted from post at 04:17:05 08/02/15) move up to a 50 series with the 15sp powershift and you'll be a happy camper! Ask the Deere dealer what the top two best tractors
are. I'd bet my farm they will say 4020 and 4440.

I've run 4 sound guard cabs, and even the 3 that had
completely new AC systems I wouldn't describe as
cool.

A small magnum (71/7220) has a little nicer cab. Lot
easier to get into, don't have to step 6 inches from
a turbo and exhaust manifold on the way out, and
there's room for your lunch box. No exhaust pipe and
door frame blocking your view of oncoming traffic
while driving down the right side of the road. And
the cab air filter is self cleaning.

They do suffer from the same worst affliction as a jd cab
though. Some nitwit put a console in the space that
your right knee needs to occupy while running most
equipment.
