Electric rates going down

Don't count on it. I seem to remember a few years ago that there was a man campaigning saying that he was going to bankrupt the coal-fired electrical generators....

Not a chance here- they just put in many miles of new poles and new wire. They have been at it 7 days a week rain or shine. been more rain than shine

As posted below the current US President said about coal and electricity a few years back "Under my plan electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket" THANKS A LOT

If and when I sell out the farm with big old home and downsize (kids all gone long ago) you can bet my next home will be smaller, tighter and more energy efficient, including but not limited to earth sheltering,,,,,,,,,tons of insulation,,,,,,,,,,,,passive no maintenance relatively low cost PASSIVE Solar Heating,,,,,,,,,,,,Renewable energy heating,,,,,,,,,,,Solar Electric,,,,,,,,,,,possibly some Geo Thermal,,,,,,,,,,,other energy saving options left open and on the table TO GET THE MOST ENERGY SAVING BANG FOR THE BUCK OVER THE LONG HAUL.......

I'm NOT limiting myself to only one or two heating cooling and energy saving methods (I will thoroughly study and research and cost and payback study them all), others may do as they please and can afford. Their money their call

Our rates are staying the same. Of course, we get almost half our electric from those wind chargers. Our rates didn't 'skyrocket', but maybe that's cause our Co-Op didn't tack on an $85.00/month surcharge like the Pella, Iowa co-op just did.

The utility I am employed by just retired four or five coal-fired plants this Spring/Summer, somewhere around 5,000 megawatts of generation. The older units are VERY expensive to operate and upgrade to the new EPA-compliant emissions levels. We are currently building a new solar generating "farm", and, thanks to all that hay-busting rain, our hydro spins 24/7. Less heavy industry means lower overall national demand. Fortunately, I work at a base-load plant, but things are not nearly as rosy as 10 years ago.

rates are coming down here in NH. if they drop by 1/3 we should be in line with the rest of the country.

JohnT,
When you get serious about building pay me a visit, I'll show you some of the energy saving techniques I used when I built a new house around my old house. It was a 5 year project. I finished it 20 years ago when kids were still home. Been saving a lot on energy costs.

My son and daughter both helped with the construction. Now my daughter expects her husband to build her a house like I did. I feel sorry for her husband.
