Some of you may remember that my wife and I went to New York for our 50th. wedding anniversary.
We had a wonderful time but something strange happened.
We flew at 41 thousand feet to and from NY and visited empire state building along with many other tall buildings.
My ears gave me no problems with elevation change!
Didn't "pop" the first time.
I have no ear problems, other then natural hearing loss over the years, but will check with doctor concerning this situation.
Anybody else have this situation?

Been there done that. Best solution I have found is the one the USAF docs used on pilots that had this situation. Use a good Nasal spray and it should clear things up. Sometimes takes a hour or so after you use it.

Thanks for the reply, but I really don't have a problem with this situation.
I have no stuffiness before or after, just a little concerned in that I have never heard of anyone that had this.
Good to know others have this. But will check with doctor.

Many people don't get the ear pressure issues in newer planes. They have better cabin alitude control. don't pump up/down as quickly and maintain higher pressure at altitude. And, if you are drinking or eating that helps to equalize the inner ear pressure with the cabin pressure.

You probably are concerned about nothing.

I took a shower and dried my ears with a Q-tip. I couldn't believe how much wax I got.
After the third Q-tip I realized it wasn't ear wax, it was the yellow spray paint I
sprayed on the tractor.

Jet jocks learn this very early A procedure called "valsalva". Use your thumb and forefinger, pinch your nose closed, close your mouth and give a light exhale. Swallowing hard can also equalize pressure.

JUST A FRIENDLY COMMENT, FROM OLD ACROBATTICAL PILOT...VALSALVA IS TO HELP KEEP BLOOD ABOVE UR LOWER BODY, BY A GRUNTING
PRESSUREIN UR GUT...
