Jaguar brand twine?

Anybody have issues with this brand of twine? I have a bale of 9000 sisal in my square baler, and I fought that thing all evening tonight. It would break about every 5th bale. It would do it on both sides and and it seemed as though the twine diameter was not consistent. Most often it would break about 2 inches behind the knot. Once in a while a knot would not hold. I have baled 1,000's of bales with no issues, tonight 250 was miserable to make. Thinking maybe I should try 7200, but I have never had to use that before. Any thoughts appreciated.

Yep, the consistency stinks with jaguar brand. Maybe the others are the same. I don't know. I went to 7200 about 3 years ago. Consistency is no better but at least the thin points are thicker then the thin points of 9000. You will have much better luck. Just loosen the tension way up until you use up that 9000. I swear some of that twine is no thicker then thread used in the sewing machine.

9000 twine is on the small end of what I have used. It has to be uniform in size or you will have the issues your having. It is about impossible to find good quality these days. So I switched to 7200 if I use natural twine, so the thin spots will hold and not have too many broken bales. The cheapest and easiest is to switch to plastic twine. It is much more uniform and is way cheaper these days as well. Just have good sharp twine knives and tighten the billhooks just a little and you should be good to go.

i use jaguar 9600 plastic twine, it slides thru the baler like butter ,rarely have knotter problems. baled 1250 bales straw last week, missed 1 bale when changed balls twine. been using plastic about 15 yrs, wouldnt go back. done the 7200 and 9000 sisal twinebefore. have more problems with the thrower on the jd348 baler than the knotter and twine. had problems when we used sisal twine. added bennifit is plastic is lots cheaper than sisal now. sisal $50 bale, 9600 plastic $36

Aaron, you know I haven"t baled in years, but I always used 7200. Early on (70s) I tried 9000 cuz I"d get more bales and money was more than tight, but it simply didn"t work well. Too many broken strings, and I didn"t bale that heavy.

We use that twine(9000 Jag. sisal) too in a 47 ih, set as tight as the baler/tractor/twine will allow. Any tighter the baler groans, the tractor moans on each stroke(if not snub it out) and the string just randomly snaps.

Misses maybe one in 30-100 bales, on a average day(baler has wear, twine problems...). Then there are days you can't keep a bale. The hay has to right(not to damp/tough) or string will bust. Tried to bale one field a tad to soon one day(this year), busted 5-7 out of every 10(re-baled several bales several times), gave up when 12 were on wagon. Next day no changes(or just a minor tweek) to baler, missed I think 3 in 150(normal or less for baler).

I'd clean off and lift the knotters. You might have some garbage hung up some place.

Thanks for the replies. I bought some 7200 today to use on straw in the near future. Hope it works better!
