Got an IH 445 today that has damages a knoter bill hook. BUT what it did is tie a bale then tie again sometimes twice. (producing a 4-6 inch long bale. Have checked needle brake but seems there is a problem with the trip and knoter cam. Any thought????

That is really not unique. I have had it happen. just go through the metering wheel and brake adjustment procedures in your manual.

I'm not familiar with an IHC sq baler but the trip dog is not being released from the cam lobe. Closely inspect the linkage associated with the measuring wheel(parts key 12-20). I think the needle brake isn't the problem.

And parts key 14 if a twine baler

That isn't a defect, it's a feature. You sell those short bales for a couple bucks apiece at petting zoos so the kids can feed the animals.

But if you really want to fix it, it's as Tx Jim said.

He makes a good point there are people out there that would buy them! months ago there was a discussion about a guy with a scale model working mini baler, and what people would pay for a quarter or smaller scale bale from it at craft sales.
The asking price of the baler wasn't as stupid as we first thought with the income it could generate with small children and artsy crafty type people.
