Electronic stuff

Electronic things and me just don't get along. Wife's washing machine was having intermittent push button problems. Suspected the circuit board. New one was around 230.00, service call 100.00. that got into the high dollars real fast for me. I took a chance on a used one from ebay for 63.00 with free shipping. Put it in today, and it works.
When I first started working in my factory job these circuit boards were actually repaired in our shop by the electronic guys. Toward the end of my employment, all that was done was replace the complete board. You guys with tractors, and equipment, that has electronic stuff must go crazy when it doesn't work. Stan

The place that I worked had a department that could have easily fixed 'non-conforming' boards that didn't work but it was the feeling of the company that they paid good money for the board in the first place so it should be up to the supplier to "make good on it" not our workforce.

Thankfully my tractors have electrical items, but no electronic items. If I can spray PB Blaster on the electical and it works again, that's the extreme end of my limit.

Stan, Electronic stuff is one of the reasons I love my antique Farmall and Jubilee. The old gassers are very simple to work on, KISS. My terramite is gas, very simple to work on. Just like working on a lawn mower.

Wash machines are another issue. Bought a whirlpool and a two years later, bearing problem. Thank God I purchased a 5 year extended warranty. It was so bad I got a full refund. So then I purchased a GE washer. It was build old school with mechanical timer and controls. Sometimes it screws up, has a mind of it's own. I got a 5 year warranty with it. My guess is it won't make 5 years before they replace it too.

I never used to buy extended warranty, but with today's electronic junk I spend a little extra. So for those who think I CHEAP, think again.

I looked underneath my whirlpool and tried to find one that was built differently. I don't recall all the washers that looked like the whirlpools, I think Maytag did.
