Occasionally tire quality discussions come up here and the subject of TSC tire quality gets a good airing. About a year ago I put a TSC tire and tube on my wood splitter. I notice it is going flat and the side wall of the tire is cracking. Had the other tire go bad last spring. Now if I remember correctly the last set came from TSC also. I had both of the tires on a two wheel cart I use behind my lawn mower go bad, too. Looks like the next time I get tires for these two conveyances I'll call the guys who do our tractor and truck tires and see if I can find a little higher quality of tire. Those tires aren't hard to change, but it IS getting a little tiresome.

I have used about 3 of their tubes and that's 3 too many, on Ford front wheels and garden tractors. They come from China. So the last 8" garden tire that went flat, I took to the local farm and everything else 4th generation tire store. I checked the tube he was using and it was from S. Korea. It's still working just fine, couple of years now.

A lot of inner tubes sold nowadays come from S. Korea. We've not gotten very good service from these tubes, especially in tractor tires. Local tire shop says that all tubes are from S. Korea--baloney!! We now insist on only American made Firestone inner tubes--much better!

Don't think it matters, put Firestone 6.00x16 new on a 800 Case a couple years ago.....all cracked to heck today. Three year old Firestones on the Dodge one ton...cracked between the threads.

We went to the heavy duty tubes for all tractor tires-that ment 99% of them were USA made. It almost cured the seam splitting problem we had with over seas tubes.

I normally try not to buy ANYTHING at TSC, but my old Cub Cadet needed all new tires so I bought their Hi-Run's because the price was just too good compared to Carlisle and others. I think even Carlisle is made in China now. I read where China makes twice as many tires as the U.S.

I worked in a very active tire shop after high school. The trick to keeping tubes from splitting was to keep them from sticking to the inner tire. We always used baby powder inside the tire prior to the tube going in. It makes it easier to place the tube and extends the life of cheap ones brought in by customers.

TSC tires and tubes couldn't hold air long enough to float themselves back to China if inflated to 2psi and launched from Hong Kong.

Last wheelbarrow tire & tube purchased there, lasted just under 9 hours. Disgusted and in too much hurry to run back to town, I went out behind the barn to check the remains of a wheelbarrow that had been sitting in the weeds for about 10 years, and the tire (Kenda) was still holding air. Put it on the daily driver and topped it off - it's still working fine a year later.

Had to get a tractor front last winter, and the local tire shop provided an "American Farmer" branded one, made in USA. Not sure about the tube, but so far, so good.

I've been meaning to try Trans American Rubber. They don't sell direct, and there isn't a store local, but for good tires and tubes, it might be well worth the trip. Tami Grimes
