steering clutch

Need to replace frozen steering clutch on 2010 crawler. I have removed track, drive sprocket, upper clutch housing and brake assembly. Removed side cover (also loosend set screw) now want to pull out shaft but seems stuck. Manual refers to two split rings on shaft. Could these be why it won't come out? Thanks for any advice.

Checked out rear end, there is no back cover so I presume it must be a different model you refer to. I used a inspection camera and found no cap screws on the shaft. I'm going to use a hammer puller threded into end of shaft. Fingers crossed, here goes

The puller worked fine, the final drive pinion shaft is out, now to remove steering clutch drive shaft then clutch assembly and brake drum should lift out. ( I hope ) Its a pain in the butt working out in the bush when all my tools are at home and not knowing whats needed next.
