Small town festivities (pics)

My home town Moulton, TX had it's annual Jamboree. This was the first year in the past decade or so it wasn't over 100 degrees. Parade, music, food, cold drinks and tractors. My son Barry finally got to take "Was running when parked", his'58 MF 65 to a show. I'm on my 50. Here's some parade pics. Queens, fire trucks, more queens, tractors. I live about 90 miles away now so it's always good to get back and see friends. John Young

Looks like a good turnout. Might not have been over 100* but wasn't much under that though. Sorry I missed the fun. Since it hasn't rained in July I'm starting to catch up with the hay jobs, only 5 more to go.

Originally began in Moulton but now claims Moravia as it's home. We have a show there in May, the show in Moulton in July, participate with a show at the Czech Heritage festival in LaGrange in Oct. and have a plow day in Nov.

I like Shiner Premium. All that foofoo stuff they brew now isn't high on my list. Mainly stick to Lone Star Light mainly for my figure!!

I really envy you Americans, you have these great small town parades where the local people appreciate your farmers and support their local community.

wjytexas,

And THAT is the heartbeat of America!!

Great photos! You and your son have nice tractors... I like the contrast of "shiny" and "work clothes" side by side in that pic.

Like that Oliver in its work clothes too. Thanks for posting.

Many thanks for showing us some proud Texans in a great little small town in America. Small towns are on the endangered list. Moulton probably doesn't have a mosque or every other resident looking down at their iPod.

There is a Catholic church and a Lutheran Church. The school is highly rated and most grads go on to some further education. Although the population is still about 900 it
has changed. The area sits over the Eagle Ford shale and there is a big oil field presence. Lots of strangers now. There is even a Dollar General and a motel now but still
no stop light. It was a good place to grow up in the '40's - 60's. I'll post more show pics. tomorrow.

When I was working on Lonesome Dove. The crew I was with was given four cases of Shiner Boc. I believe we still had some a year later.
