Can of spray paint commits suicide.

Can of spray paint commits suicide. I saw it jump off the work bench, land on the corner of a piece of metal. Punched a hole in can, it rolled and spun spraying paint all over the floor. Good thing no paint got on anything in pole barn except for the floor. Did the best I could to remove paint. It dried very fast. Now I have a large spot what has a black tint. Keep an eye on your paint cans. Has anyone seen this happen?

I had that happen several times over the years. Paint cans, either cans and what have you. If it comes in a spray can, it has been punctured at one time or another around here. Spray foam makes a really interesting mess to clean up. Lol!

I had one rust out in the flammables cabinet in our basement one time. Took quite a while to track down where the paint smell was coming from. On a similar note had a sealed can of cola roll off the dash of my car while driving and it hit the corner of the seat rail, looked like a fire hose going off. I picked it up and threw it out the window while it was still gushing. Bill

any years ago, I accelerated up the entrance ramp & hear a shot......thought about those highway rage stories. Then two more shots! DA#&! Then realized that my glass hatchback had been sitting in the parking lot all day while at work in the August Texas sun......with a full case of Dr. Pepper back there. Both relieved & whizzed off! What a mess.

JMOR, story for growing up. One day a new caddy convertible pulled up in front of our house and it sounded like it was backfiring. The driver comes to the door and asked for a bucket of water. My dad filled a 5 gal bucket expecting him to top off the over heating radiator but to our surprise he dumps it on the back seat. Turns out he had ammunition under the seat and the floor had gotten so hot the ammo was cooking off. Bill

This is a first for me. Hopefully the last. Spray foam, tub of tar and grease fall in the same category, if I use it and I will be wearing it.

About 15-20 years ago I had a rattle can of John Deere green in the cab of my pickup. Left the truck parked in the sun, and upon arriving home from church found the windshield broken and green paint splattered all over the red interior of the cab!

My wife and I were in the check out lane at walmart and person in the other check out aisle next to us dropped a two liter bottle of soda. It hit the floor head first, popped the cap off it then took off like a rocket and landed in our cart. Soda went everywhere and we all laughed.

I have my Dad's Farmall H with a buzz saw mounted on the front

Since I only get it out once or twice a year for local parades, it is always off to the side and takes a little maneuvering to get out of the shed. The saw frame cannot be seen from the seat unless you lean to the left, and one day I hit a shelf by the door with it. I did not see anything fall, so I backed up a little and went out the door. Just as I was passing through the door I heard a loud bang and suddenly my back was wet, and a can went flying to the right and several yards ahead into the grass. Then I could smell the strong scent of ether. sure was glad I quit smoking 40 years ago!!!!!! Apparently the left rear tire lug had smashed it and it flew from there against the steel shelving and missed me by just a few inches as it went out the door.

I use to carry a can of tree paint in my skidsteer. One day I heard a hissing sound like a snake and I got hit with orange paint on my right side. Can got a hole in it and repainted my cab orange

We went around a corner with a flatbed pickup and a cooler full of soda went over the side. Fizzing, spraying soda cans were rolling around the intersection in Cordell Oklahoma. We saved a few of them. A burst soda can makes a heck of a mess in a hot combine cab in the 110 degree sun.

Haven't done it in the garage, but in the bathroom. Ever see a can of shaving cream uncompressed? Filled half the bathroom.

A while back the bottom of a can of spray graphite let loose, shooting the can straight up, through the ceiling. There was a perfectly round hole in the ceiling and the can was found in the attic. Made a heck of a mess.

Steve in IL,
Thanks for the chuckle. Now I don't feel so bad. Only my floor got painted black.

Custom harvesting on Oklahoma years ago in 115 degree heat. A can of Mountain Dew got left behind in the pickup cab all day.
When it blew up it must have been spectacular because EVERY INCH of the inside of the cab was STICKY !!!

Another time a bottle of ketchup blew its top in the camper. Gawd what a mess. Looked like somebody got murdered in there.

OK many years ago we used to shoot rats at a privately owned dump. The owner would poison the rats when they got too bad. One time we went and there were no rats so we shot a few bottles and I decided to shoot an aerosol can I saw about 25-30 feet down the bank, (using .22s) That can shot up that bank so fast I didn't have time to move and it hit me in the leg! Lesson learned!

I read all of these stories and thought this one would fit in:

In 1960 a new grocery store opened up out close to where we lived. My dad, and I later, worked a lot of years for this outfit. This store had all the newest stuff, including bottles of cooking sherry. Now, Lubbock, Texas was dry at the time. No alcohol of any kind was in stores back then. That cooking sherry just sat on the shelf and fermented I guess. Over the years it got moved around and finally was in a place on top of one of the freezer cases, still for sale but out of reach really. I was working one night heard a pop back in the store. Didn't think much about it until I heard a pair of them a couple of days later. By that time we had to find what was making the noises. Turns out that cooking sherry had finally gotten ripe and was shooting the caps off, one at a time. It was probably 7 years old, and being kinda heated on top of that freezer, made for a nice combination. Each of the caps had made a hole in the drop ceiling. As we were removing the other bottles (I think there were maybe two cases up there) half of them went off. It reminded me of the movies where the nitro-glycerin was being handled.

My brother threw a screwdriver into the cab of his Chevy Silverado years ago - happened to land just perfect to poke a hole in the side of a blue spray paint.

You never realize how much paint one spray can holds, until it is used up by bouncing around all over the cab of your pickup!! Even covered the instrument panel!
