Second Cutting dry Hay

Did my first field of second cutting hay here in s.w. Pa. The bad news is that I still have about 30 more fields of first cutting to do. Fields are getting wetter and wetter and the weather forecast says another week of rain. Won't have 13,000 dry
bales this year unless I can bale til new years!

I raked my only second-cutting field tonight after baling some 165 bales of first cutting, no help around tonight, so did it all by myself, not the most efficient, but had to finish that field up. Looks dry here until Tuesday, wish I had been able to cut more of the first cutting as well, will have to wait until this storm passes.

I got a second cutting of alfalfa this week and put up 500 squares of brome. I'm a little worried it may be a struggle to get anymore in. We're headed back into a wet pattern.

Here in Missouri most have not been able to do a first cutting let alone a 2nd cutting. Been having way to much rain and flooding etc etc .

Not even started first cutting here in NY, I almost cut yesterday, but they said a chance of showered today, so I dident cut, woke up this am to rain and dreary.

Lots of first and second cutting dry hay being baled this weekend here around Edon OH. Lucked out with four dry days with another one being called for tomorrow. I baled all of 21 bales of first cutting yesterday. Picked then up with the loader and put them in the loft. Not the best quality I guess. I gave some to horses in two different lots and they were not all that impressed. They normally go after a fresh bale of hay like candy. A couple of them sorted and with a mouth full came over to the gate.

We got the first cutting of grass hay cut and baled this week. It got a little rain on it about 2 hours after being cut, we tedded it the next morning and gave it 3 days in the sun, raked and baled. It was plenty dry. The second cutting of alfalfa has not grown much due to cool wet weather, so it is not heavy. We got it cut and tedded Friday night, raked last night, will get side raked and baled today. It will be plenty dry.

I am a believer in tedding now, most of the people around here are getting tedders, there were none a few years ago.
