Rough ride this morning

Had a rough ride this morning, Trailer with machinery going to a show. About 5-6 mile from home a Big Jeep did not stop for the stop sine. My trailer is totalled and also her Jeep. We thought she hit me just in front of the fender on trailer but looking later hooks like she hit the fender just in back of left rear wheel on truck, just slight dent there. Wrecker had to tow trailer home. Did not think any problem with truck so when the wrecker towed trailer home I went on to the show. Axle folded under, fender destroyed and new tire blown that we saw at the time. When I got home now looked at trailer and front of Jeep rode over top of fender . The trailer is angle Iron frame with sides on bed with bed between wheels and Now I see that both the top rail and bottom at floor are bent down at ends. and trailer is setting twisted. All the machinery on trailer was sold for use with the 2N Ford as feature was Ford and Ferguson. Trailer was 16 years old and used almost all the time. Just a week ago sunday had put on 4 new radial tires and wheels, think the wheel with blown tire is probably bent as well but with the fender into tire cannot tell. I am going to have to get truck checked out to see if any dammage underneeth as it seemes a bit more squirly in back end but not used to driving it much without the trailer. The new tires have 500-600 mile on them only. 16" tandem axle 3,500# axles and it seems TSC and Rual King only sell single axle trailers now. It was bought new from Central Tractor. I had my cruise set on 50 when I was hit. While trying to keep control and getting stoped, cruise kept pulling me along, glance in side mirrow I thought the Jeep was going to flip as it turned it completely around but it did not. Just a lot more axintey and proplems to go thru. Not enough loosing wife less than 4 month ago. And stepson that was supposed to be helping me after her death turned out he was helping himself to her life insurance. Laywer figured out what was going on and turned him over to sherif. So I have had just too much stress lately.

That is a rough one all right. Did the lady have insurance? As long as no one was hurt, things can be fixed and replaced. Stan

I was almost hit riding a bicycle tonight by a driver running a stop sign. She missed me by a foot or so going 30 in town. I had blinking front lights and it was very light out. I believe there are distracted drivers that have no business driving that are not drunk and not on the phone or texting but just mindless thoughtless fools endangering all. Jim

Must have been today.

I rode motorcycle to work today, turkey ran out in front of me, then a car pulled out later.

I hope she did. All I know so far is the wrecker company said they would be billing her insurance for towing my trailer and they also hauled away her Jeep. Guess we were both just shook up. Was planing on going to Menards Sunday to buy some lumber on last day of sale. Looks like I will be able to buy and pick up when I can borrow a trailer. At $2.00 sale per board it can add up in Dollars.

Leroy, they don't say things come in bunches like bananas just to be funny. I swear it seems to be that way much of the time. I didn't remember your losing your wife, so please accept my condolences. I have been through that myself.
I don't know which state you are in, but here in North Carolina when someone is involved in an accident, the investigating officer checks for insurance and each party is given the name of the others insurance company. That's something I would make sure of before I left the scene. I sincerely hope everything works out in your favor.

I am in Ohio and the investigating Patrolman sayed the full report would be avaible to my insurance agency this morning but being the holliday weekend they will not be open today so have to wait untill monday to find anything out. After he left her go he said to me that she was complaining of my trailer being all over the road, he said it was clearly not that way and she was just trying to get out of a ticket. I think that if she did not have insurance he would have said something at that time. They were both officers very nice. Even if I had been on the wrong side of the road she would still have had to be comming out fast into the road to hit where she did.

Sorry to hear about the mess your in, hope things get better. I'm pretty sure you can buy lumber at Menards and pick it up later, might want to ask them. Chris

Sorry to hear about your accident Leroy. The good news though is that both you and the other driver seem to be okay. All the damaged iron can either be repaired or replaced even though there will be some hassle along the way.

Sorry to hear about your troubles. I used to ride motorcycle a lot, quit after 3 close calls with car drivers blowing stop signs and red lights.

Sorry to hear about your latest misfortune, I hope that's the end of them for you! Was she on her cell phone or just 'zoned out'?

Maby I will find out more monday after my insurangcy can get the report. I think she just glanced and did not see anything and though because she did not see me in that glance that she was good to run it. Patrol did this morning confirm she had insurance. And I know she was sited for running the stop sign.

Gene, thanks. I think I will be OK. Can borrow one of Dick's trailers and can buy the lunber and wait a couple of weeks to pick it up if I need to. I will want to get it home as soon as posible tho.
