Foam in tires

How many guys use foam in front tires now. I done fixing flats and just got a quote at $1.75. This for a small volume tire.
 
I considered it, but it was too expensive for me, someting like $100 for a front tire, and it was supposed to ride like concrete. Didnt' do it. I use the plug things and shoot 16 oz. of Slime in at same time. Works for me.
$1.75? Are you sure of that price?
I might consider filling a scrap tire at that price and trying it.
 
Aircraft tires are cheaper and ride good, 26 ply tires will stop about anything you run over.
 
I'm assuming you're meaning $1.75 per unit of capacity of the tire.

I couldn't keep tires on my shredder no matter what I did and wasn't having much better luck on tractor fronts. Had new tires put on both and filled. Cost me $900 for two 14" and two 16" but I'm finding it well worth it. Wish I'd done it years ago instead of the many hours lost fighting flats because I was pinching pennies.

Every 10 years or so I will see them squat a bit and realize that they need some air. I have about 10 sets of them. On hay baler, hay rake, hay cutter and 4 tractors. Mesquite thorns are not forgiving. I did wear one set out, but it took about 32 years. It still held air but had worn all the rubber off and was worn through most of the steel belts. It was leaving steel wire everywhere so I finally removed it. It was sliding badly in the turns and peeling off wire. It still in the barn somewhere and still holding air. You get the tire and a brand new rim for not much more than a rim cost. Shipping will be the only thing bad, so I drive down 200 miles and pick mine up when needed.

Occasionally they will run a batch of mudgrips retreads for all the hunters to put on jeeps.

They do however have a speed rating of only 270 mph.
 
OOPS, I meant 1.75 per pound of foam. 16 inch tire would be filled with 60 pounds or about $106
