Another Day of Smoke

Second day in a row of heavy smoke here. Drifting down from fires in Northern Sask. and I hear it extends well into the U.S. as well. Strong smell of smoke outside and it burns the throat a little. At least we don't get the ash they are reporting further North. A nice rain would help but we have not seen one of those in a while.

Same thing here in south jersey about 1998 I think. Big fires out in western PA and we could smell smoke almost 400 miles away. Now when you got on the PA turnpike and started heading west it got like you show in your photo. I have been raised with wood stoves and fire places all of my life but WOW was it hard to breath.

Yes, smoke from Northern fires is not unusual most summers but this seems the worst I can remember. I don't recall it being strong enough to burn the throat before but this does. Air quality advisories are out just in case anybody didn't notice.
Smoke etc

There was a day here a few weeks ago that the weather guesser mentioned smoke in the atmosphere here from those. That was the first I'd heard of them.

Had that happen in N Texas a few years back. Smoke was coming from South and Central America! There were even days ashes were falling!

Think it started out as controlled burning and got out of hand. Seemed like it went on for a couple weeks.

Hi We are getting smoke to here in SW Manitoba, It's not as bad over here just looks like a cloudy damp day kinda sky. I guess the smells long gone before it gets to us.
Regards Robert

West of Mitchell, SD. It was hazy all day yesterday from the smoke. Not sure today, as have a drizzle coming down since early morning hours. Thank goodness, My lawn is already brown. Greened up with that last rain a week or so ago. Most of the rains have missed me.

We had it bad in NW Saskatchewan yesterday, 1 tenth of rain last night helped a little.
I was in Saskatoon this morning, west of town smoke was so thick you could taste it and all the low lying areas it looked like a fog rolled in.
Less than 1/2 mile visibility in some areas.
