Yamaha bruin 350 stalling

I have a 2004 Yamaha 350 that will stall out when splashing through water, just started this this summer, never had a problem with it other years. If I leave it set for ten minutes or so it will start right up and runs fine. Any ideas what would cause this? Not a big deal, but when you are moving cattle, things can go bad in ten minutes, and not going through water is not an option. If I drive slow without splashing, it doesn't bother. Thanks for any help or information.

spark plugwire is worn out & porous so letting water short it out. Dries off in a few minutes so works once again, til the next rainy day or mudpuddle. An ornery 1964 International Scout 4 cyl. taught me all I wanted to know about that!

If you spray some WD40 on your ignition system, (plug, plug boot, and plug wire) I have had good luck going through water.

The engine heat is drying it out the electrical short caused by moisture, does not take much water. May not be the plug -- could be inside the case cover where the stator/magneto is. Over the years the gaskets or sealing preventing water from entering has shrunk. Might also be some rust in there that is not helping. I would remove the cover and clean/re-seal everything, and WD40 wouldn't hurt.

Thanks for the information, I will order a new plug wire unit, looks like around $25 off the internet, see if that solves it, if not will look into the cover gasket, Thanks again.
