friend Of Mine Has a 8n With A Hi low tranny. it Will Jump Out of High & Making a Grinding Noise. is there an adjustment to Keep It In The high Gear? It is the Hi low Tranny that is Jumping out of Hi. low is ok. any help Appreciated. Thanks

rfarms,Is there an adjustment to Keep It In The high Gear? No,The tractor will have to be split to remove it for repair.Tell him to just use it in low range till it can be repaired.Go over to the Ford N board to ask more info about the Sherman transmission.

Since I am a purest I have to say there is no such thing as a high/low transmission is it a over drove and standard set up. Standard as in what it would have with out the aux transmission and over drive. It may jump out due to bad bearings or bad dent etc. Either way one has to split the tractor to get to the aux transmission

Well old, maybe you're just not familiar with the little Fords, you know, being a purist and all. Sherman did indeed make an over/under unit, as well as underdrive/standard and standard/overdrive.

If this link shows up, this place has a lot of info about the Sherman combination unit, I'm guessing that's what you have. http://www.oldfordtractors.com/sherman.htm
