farmall h two speed

I have a farmall h with a two speed on it.
It jumps out of gear when its both in high
and low. Does anyone know if you can adjust
it to stay in engaged?

Need to know what type? Cable shift? Lever on the right side of transmission with a shift rod? Lever on the left side of transmission with a shift rod? Lever on the left side with a shift lever and rod to lever. Right and left like you are setting on the seat.

It's a cable type. Cable wraps around and goes in from the front of the transmission by the belly pump drive

That's a M&W unless it's something I don't know about. On the transmission counter shaft between 1&2 and 3&4 gears it has a sleeve with 3 groves. Another sleeve over that slides to do the shifting. It has small balls and springs that go in groves to hold in gear. So if nothing else is damaged the sleeve assembly is supposed to hold the range gear splines locked to the low or high range gear.

well I guess I will have to pull the cover off and look in there then. I was hoping it would be something simple but it never works out that way haha. well thanks for the information

Other things can go wrong. 2 pins go through 2 holes through the 3rd and 4th gears and attach to the piece that locks the 2 range gears to the counter shaft. Sometimes the pin retaining ring attaching them to the shift sleeve fails or the pins came unattached to the range gear select piece. maybe other damaged parts.

its the high and low that jumps out. it does it in all the gears. it does not constantly jump out it has only done it a few times. it happens more so when its under load
