Hello I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to attach the mower deck to a John Deere 140H3 1973. What belts do I need with it as well? I have the mule drive. I have looked everywhere for help and have run into dead ends. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.

I can't help you on your specific questions but would suggest also posting your question on the
Garden Tractor forum. There are folks there that are quite knowledgeable on such things.

The deck belt is pretty self explanatory. Here is how I remember doing the drive belt about a 1000 times....

Position the deck under the tractor.. Remove the front grill. Put the belt over the pto pulley on the front of the engine with the rest of the belt hanging below and back towards the deck. Take the mule drive and feed each side of the belt around the cover and onto the pulleys. Lift the mule into the brackets under the pto pulley. Snap the back mule arms onto the deck with the belt around the mule pulleys and laying on top of the brackets. Once the mule is on and the belt is flowing around the brackets, place the belt on the main deck pulley. Slowly spin one of the blades and it should feed itself onto the pulley. There is a small keeper that you should fit the belt under first and then move around the pulley from there. Then snap the back brackets. Pretension the belt, start it and check to make sure the tension stays in the proper range.
