It is time to get another Golden Retriever puppy. The oldest dog is 8 but has cancer and will probably only last another year. I like to get them trained by a dog that knows what to do, and the current one is smart as a whip. I have a two year old golden but he's still too much of a hot mess and follows his older sister's lead. He will love to play with a new one and knows all of his commands but still looks to his sister for lead.
Anyone know of a breeder in NEKS that won't want a mint for their dogs? I contacted one yesterday and he wanted $950 a puppy! Around here a dog could get run over by a tractor or get caught in something too easy to spend that kind of money. I know that sounds bad, but it is the truth on the farm. It is as dangerous for them as it is me. I felt bad enough paying $500 for the last one and he now has hip displasia. That's my only real hang up - I have to know lineage so I can avoid that.
