Does anyone know where to find the serial number on a Cockshut 540 tractor and it has F162 what does that mean ? How many was made or anything about them ?

Cockshutt serial numbers were stamped on the top of the frame rail beside the engine. Left on the red tractors and right I think on the 500 series. I am not for sure on the 20's and 540's but I think that is where your number should be.

Don't remember production numbers but I think there was between 2000 and 4000 540's made.

Thanks very much for the information. It is appreciated...It isn't marked where you shift gears, so do you happen to know the gear shift formation on what is Hi and what is Low gear ?

Thanks for the information.......would you happen to know the gear sequence. where Hi and Low is . It isn't marked and right now it's not running so I can't find out by trying it out.

Glad to hear they are easy to get parts for, do you know of anyplace I can call to find out what parts are available ? Like a water pump to start with ?

Make your post in the Oliver, Cletrac, Cockshutt and Coop section of the forum and you'll probably get a reply from Phil Heisey. I'm sure he'll have the parts you want. Or just google that name and get his contact information. He's a busy man and has a separate job, but be patient after you get his contact number and he'll give you the parts and info you need. Prices are good.
Irv's a great guy to work with also.
