The way I fix my mower decks is, have it sandblasted, careful they don't get sand in the bearings.
If it needs welding do it, give it a good soaking of Ospho, when its dry coat it with 'Bed liner in the can.
Before using it spray it good vith Fluid Film.
Its vorked fur me in keeping down the rust.

I have used a product made by Rust-O-Leum called rusty metal primer with very good results. I keep some around all the time.

I just used POR15 on mine a few weeks ago, will see how it holds up. Expensive stuff though

I did the same as JBD and used POR15. I power washed to get it clean. Prepped it with their metal prep, phosphoric acid treatment. Then applied the POR15. It left a nice smooth surface and the deck seemed to cut better after I was done. Will be interesting to see how it holds up since I just did it 2 weeks ago.

I have 2 sets of calcium chloride damaged tractor rims that are going to get the same treatment here soon.

Used POR15 for years on various mower decks. Do good prep, put two coats on, lasts long time. Never had bed liner last over three or four mowings.

I wouldn't put that or Ospho over rust without first giving it the phosphoric acid treatment.
