Turbo Connector clamp

I had the clamp that holds the rubber connector tube onto the turbo break. I got a new one and put it on. They all have a spring under the nut that you put your wrench on to tighten the clamp. I expect that means that you don't completely compress the spring or you would be in effect eliminating it. is the spring there to take up a little expansion as everything heats up?

I tighten them until the spring is almost fully collapsed. The hose and tube must also be completely oil free or it will blow off again.

I hope you used the proper hose and T bolt clamp.
The hose is silicone to take the heat and the clamp is made to take the proper amount of boost without pinching the hose and cutting it.

The clamp is made to be torqued but I have never known anyone to do it.
Just make sure everything is clean. You can use a little soapy water to get the hose on.
And tighten the clamp so the spring is about half way compressed.

Thanks guys. The hose slips on very easily. This is on my '06 6.0 with 80,000 miles. Should it be a real tight fit?

No, they don't fit tight. But they can be a real problem to keep on once they have been removed! If it's the one I'm thinking of, the factory wants you to replace everything every time it's removed... Isn't that nice for them!

I'm sure it's against every rule ever made, but I've glued them on with spray contact cement, worked well. Just let it dry thoroughly before cranking it up.

And, might want to keep the necessary tools with you until you can trust it to stay on!

The hoses are stiff and a bear to get lined up in some situations so a little lube is sometimes needed.
Some applications also have a little hump on the end of the pipe that the hose needs to be pushed over.
The hose should fit kinda snug about like a new radiator hose.

With that said (not knowing your boost pressure) I do not know that I would replace the hose because it is a little loose.
But if I noticed any movement after installation I would rethink that last comment.

I replaced mine on the 6.0 with the last oil change. These are known to pop off once the hose gets impregnated with oil. I reused the clamps with a new hose and tightened until the spring was mostly collapsed. Make sure both surfaces are really clean.

I have heard of guys spraying some hair spray on it to help it stick, but never tried it myself.
