Mount Snowdon in North Wales

Been up in North West Wales for a few days. Its a mountain region with Mount Snowdon rising to
3560 feet - the 2nd highest mountain in Britain

Welsh Mountain sheep are the native breed in this area. Only one lamb per year, very hardy breed living off the sparse grass, but very good eating.

Great to see these and the narrow gauge railroad previously. Unreal to see the snow contrast this time of year, but I guess its high enough in elevation. You don't get snowfall like we get I assume, makes that photo really something to look at.

I used to do a fair amount of rock climbing, mountaineering, hiking, etc...my wife and I were on our honey moon though the UK. We went to hike up Mt. Snowdon...a nice morning hike is what I anticipated...nothing but a walk really.
Now I have been in some twitchy situations in the backcountry, but when the fog and drizzle came in and the trail we were on was indistinguishable from the sheep paths. Next thing you know we were on an 6" wide ledge over a 60' drop to a cascade of water...and we could hear the other hikers on the real trail 20', even see their shapes through the fog.

We did get out, my wife wasn't thrilled but no injuries...just goes to show no matter haw good you are, weird stuff can happen. It is a beautiful mountain and the wonderful countryside. We did take the tram down - my wife's decision...I wasn't about to argue.

Mt. Snowdon and the train ride up / down were one of the highlights of our trip to WALES in 2012. Also had a picnic lunch in Anglesey across street from Beaumaris Castle and admired Snowdon from afar.

Thanks for sharing these photos!!
