John Deere A rollamatic

Hello- working on a John Deere A 600063. I had the front rollamatic a apart for simple maintenance and noticed a broken tooth inside. I ordered a used right hand knuckle a3471r from a salvage yard. On inspection the "new" knuckle has 6 teeth that would engage to make the rollamatic work. The two knuckles I currently have - have 9 and 10 teeth. Can I use the 6 tooth with my current set-up or do I need two more similar? FYI- my old one and the salvage one both have casting numbers of a3471r.
Thanks for the help in advance...

Are the left and right knuckles different part numbers? I never had mine apart but I think the reason for 10 and 9 would be so center tooth can mesh with the center groove when the knuckles are aligned. If the 6-tooth has the same tooth size and pitch circle it could work. You would have to try it and make sure you have the full up-down travel. Look for an aligning mark on the gears.

Can't say as I ever counted the teeth ? Usually if the casting numbers match you are interchangeable ? Maybe there was a design change or something ?
I can tell you I have built up several teeth back on those. Use certainium 707 welding rod or equivalent. A dremal really helps to grind it to shape.
