exciting for me, cuz all I do is 'lurk' on here and watch ya'll having fun! I don't own a tractor...:(
I was at my friend's farm out in Western WI this weekend, helping him fix up his milkroom. He knew I was eager for a drive, so offered me his new-to-him John Deere 3010 with loader to feed out a big square bale of hay to the heifers.

Just a simple job, snag a bale from the loft, drive around to the paddock, dump/flip, cut the twine and back out. but it MADE MY DAY!! I was grinnin from ear to ear. wish I had a picture.

That's a tall tractor for me, compared to the utility 606 International my dad used on our farm.

Just thought i'd share my excitment with you all. I'm here on YT forums pretty much daily. You guys are great!

If you can't live on a farm, next best thing is to visit one.

I had an old friend, Denver accountant, visit. Started him off on my compact tractor, pulling me on my roadgrader. He then proudly explained driving to his scared wife. Next day I started a Cat trackloader, shocked him when I told him to get in. He uprooted several 4-6" d. trees and had a wonderful time. He got great mileage out of those photos, probably nobody else he knows ever drove a tractor. Especially a big yellow one that could yank up a 35' tree.

Will Rogers said "There's something about the outside of a horse that's good for the inside a man". In my opinion, seat time on a tractor is a real close second.

You may be hooked.

Glad you enjoyed yourself.

That's fantastic. Always use them safely in good health, and never underestimate them so they don't get away from you when you're least expecting it.

Guess that's something for most of us to think about. We climb on a tractor on a regular, if not daily, basis and don't think anything about it. But there's a whole bunch of people that never drove anything but a car. My youngest son was in engineering at UDM in a physics class. Professor was trying to explain the physics of notching and felling a tree. He said "None of you have ever done this, but...". My son was the only one in a large class to hold up his hand and say "I have and lots of 'em!".

Super cool, I'm glad you enjoyed that. We didn't have tractors growing up, either, so I know what a big deal it was for me when I first drove one. Now you are hooked!

When I was a kid the only thing I was allowed to drive was the cub cadets. My first real tractor I drove was a 1949 case VAC. In my teens. Was a wild ride. I'll never forget it.

Thanks everyone. I appreciate your encouraging words to all those who come here to YT for ideas, help, and banter. You're inspiring, and I have learned a lot...SO much knowledge here! (and some mischief  8) )

I enjoyed those few minutes. I hope one day to get a tractor but right now, raising a family; funding priorities are different. Kids are once in a lifetime - but tractors will always be there. I hope you guys/gals are too -- I'll need all the help I can get!

I work on construction equipment for a living, and enjoy what I do. One of the things I enjoy most is getting to make a test run with whatever machine I have been working on. Over the years I've had the chance to run everything from lawn mowers to a D9 CAT dozer, to a pretty good sized crane. I don't get to run much farm equipment, but regardless of what kind of tractor it is, they are ALL fun.

Now fun! driving tractors is fun til you been pounding over many thousands of acres over 40 years,..today its getting a chore i could live without..but it comes with the job of farming so....

You are so right. For me nothing soothes the soul like a few hours plowing, or fitting ground. To coin and old western phrase about horses, "If you can't do it from a tractor seat, it ain't worth doing".
